Meet Ajit Wettasinghe
Ajit Wettasinghe is a Theravāda Buddhist teacher, retired licensed psychotherapist, and author whose work bridges the timeless wisdom of the Dhamma with the insights of modern psychology. Born in Sri Lanka and now based in Virginia, Ajit brings over 25 years of clinical experience in counseling psychology — including a master’s degree from Loyola University Maryland — to his writing and teaching.
As an author, Ajit writes nonfiction books and guided journals for general audiences, with titles that include Buddhism for Non-Buddhists, The End of the Ache, The Mindful Anchor, and Beyond Overthinking. His writing is grounded in Theravāda Buddhist doctrine — including the Pāli Canon and teachings on mindfulness, dependent origination, and the Eightfold Path — while remaining accessible and practical for readers at every stage of life. His books are published through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and are available in print and digital editions.
A lifelong practitioner of meditation and yoga, Ajit also enjoys walking, gardening, and traveling. His deepest interest lies in helping people find clarity, ease, and genuine freedom through contemplative practice — not as an abstract ideal, but as something livable, here and now.
